Housekeeping Supervisor

Overview: Responsible for assisting in the overall management and operations of the Housekeeping Department. 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the facilities, amenities and services offered by the Hotel.
  • Prepare room attendant worksheets and ensure all relevant notes & traces are recorded on the documents
  • Assign special duties to Room Attendants/Lobby Attendants as instructed by the Housekeeping Management and check progress so that the tasks are completed to the Hotels standard and on time.
  • Record assigned rooms and any relevant information from the day into the housekeeping PASS ON
  • Enter/Record guest requests into Opera (Guest Profile) where suitable. Eg. Requests for specific coffee capsules, bed to be made a special way etc.
  • Recognize and welcome repeat guests, be familiar with their preferences and dislikes and brief the team accordingly
  • Investigate and take owner ship for resolving guest queries, complaints and incidences or lack of delivering service to standards – working with colleagues to maintain guest/visitor relationship. Keep the Housekeeping Department Heads constantly updated on incidences, action taken and progress.
  • Inspect all arrival and departure rooms and maintain a high level of presence on the floors so as to ensure excellent guest service is being offered by our team.
  • Be responsible for checking that Housekeeping team have satisfactorily completed the work assigned to them by signing off their work sheets before they go off duty.
  • Ensure rooms are turned over in a timely manner and to standard- be able to perform Room Attendant, Public Area Attendant duties to assist and ensure standards are met.
  • Monitor the level of service and the level of guests’ satisfaction on an ongoing basis within the Housekeeping department to ensure consistency with the established standards. 
  • Help maintain a positive working environment – care for colleagues’ welfare and willingly give assistance in housekeeping and other departments.
  • Consistently work closely with all departments to deliver seamless service.
  • Pass on all required information and ensure clear communication with team, management and colleagues e.g. Handouts and relevant information from meetings and briefings.
  • Comply with hotel procedures related to financial and inventory controls at all times.
  • Assist in stock count and inventory of housekeeping stock.
  • All other duties as assigned and required.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum two years’ experience as a Housekeeper for a luxury or ultra-luxury property. Previous Supervisor experience is preferred.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent education.

General Skills: Strong supervisory skills.  Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to work quickly and accurately at all times; Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy; prioritize, organize and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.        

Technical Skills: Thorough knowledge of all hotel services and amenities; ability to provide clear directions. Willing to study for or hold professional qualifications in housekeeping operations.

Language: Required to speak, read and write English, and do basic mathematics.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting a minimum of 35 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas; reach up and down, pull and push, remain standing stationary for long periods of time throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
